How we work with you -- details
We use the commenting and Track Changes features of Microsoft Word. In more complex documents we comment extensively to explain the edits, provide options for changes, and offer suggestions for improvements. All changes are recorded and reversible.
We can send you a clean draft, or we can send the tracked document for you to review the changes. You will have the power to accept or reject each change. However, this comes with a strong warning:
Rejecting changes will likely result in your restoring and retaining your errors.
That mistake looked right to you when you first wrote it. But that's why you hired an editor. We welcome you to review and question the editing. If you disagree with a change, instead of rejecting it, add a comment to explain why. If an edit alters the content and meaning, then tell us. You know the subject best. It improves our service to you.
If you make further changes (make sure you use Track Changes) after we have sent you the edited document, we recommend you send the document to us again for a final edit or proofreading. We can discuss any more questions about changes.
If the document has more than one contributing author, consistency and style may need extra attention. We suggest you establish style and formatting rules (i.e., provide a template) with your contributors before they write. It will save you time and money.
